Xaralyn was established in 1994 by Wilfred Kos who used to sell decorative fireplaces. The fireplace designs in his store were of such a high quality that he was approached by many people about them. The more his gel-burners' popularity grew, the more his business expanded. Over the years he received a patent on the ceramic burners. These ceramic burners which he had developed were of a very high quality and testing institutes stated that they were the safest burners on the market at the time.

Later in 2003 Xaralyn opened its headquarters as well as a warehouse in Broek op Langedijk and has managed to become a leading manufacturer of decorative fireplaces. It also has production facilities in Asia.
